Zhongkai was born in a small city in southern China. From an early age, he developed a strong passion for music and games. During high school, he attempted to apply for a film production–related major, but by coincidence was admitted to the Recording Engineering program at the Communication University of China.

He then went on to work on recording and mixing for films and short projects, as well as music recording and mixing, live event audio operation, and wireless system management. After the pandemic, he felt the need to move into a field that allowed for greater self-expression, so he shifted his focus to music production and composition. After a period of preparation, he was successfully admitted to the Frost School of Music.
